Per impostazione predefinita, WCF usa il verbo POST per i messaggi HTTP. Il verbo GET viene usato da WCF per visualizzare le informazioni della Guida quando si accede all'indirizzo di base di ServiceHost. Ciò è utile per verificare se un servizio WCF è attivo quando si usa un Web browser. Altri metodi definiti da HTTP RFC sono PUT, DELETE, HEAD, OPTIONS, TRACE e CONNECT. Questi metodi hanno comportamenti speciali quando interoperano con altri servizi.
