L'esempio seguente tenta di recuperare il fuso orario antartico/polo meridionale dal sistema locale. Se ha esito negativo, il codice tenta di recuperare informazioni sul fuso orario da un file di testo nella directory dell'applicazione. Se questo tentativo ha esito negativo, il codice crea il fuso orario e scrive le informazioni sul file di testo.

Le applicazioni che si basano sui fusi orari non definiti in genere nel Registro di sistema di Windows o nella libreria ICU in Linux e macOScan possono usare il metodo per creare un'istanza CreateCustomTimeZone dei fusi orari necessari come TimeZoneInfo oggetti. L'applicazione può quindi chiamare il metodo per convertire l'oggetto ToSerializedString fuso orario in una stringa.
L'oggetto TimeZoneInfo deve essere archiviato anche in una posizione in cui l'applicazione può recuperarla quando necessario. Le posizioni possibili includono:
Registro di sistema nei sistemi Windows.
File di risorse dell'applicazione.
Un file esterno, ad esempio un file di testo.
