How to: Search for Words or Phrases in Topics
You can use the full-text search feature to locate all topics that contain a particular word or phrase. You can also refine and customize your search using filters, wildcard expressions, nested expressions, and logical operators.
To open the Help Search page
- Click Search on the Help menu.
To perform a full-text search
In the search box, type the word or phrase you want to find.
In the filter area, specify which filters to apply to the search, if any. To search all available Help, do not use filters.
Nota
Additional search preferences can be specified in the General, Help, Options Dialog Box. These preferences include highlighting search terms in topics, the number of search results displayed at a time, and whether or not topic abstracts are shown for search results, among others.
Click Search.
A search returns a maximum of 500 hits and displays them in the search results area.
These results are grouped by Help source, such as Local Help, MSDN Online, and Codezone Community, depending on your Help source preferences. You can switch among the results from the various Help sources by selecting a different source on the right.
Click a title from the results list to view the corresponding topic.
