After you have created a PerformancePoint KPI, you can use PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer to add trend indicators to that KPI. That way, dashboard users can see not only whether performance is on or off target, but also whether performance is increasing or decreasing.
For example, suppose that a retail organization wants to see sales performance for different geographical regions. You can configure a Sales KPI that displays current sales performance and shows whether the current performance is improving or declining.
Configuring KPIs to use trend indicators
When you extend a KPI by adding trend indicators to a KPI, you begin by opening an existing KPI for editing. Then, you extend that KPI by adding another Target value and configuring it as a trend indicator.
Importante
Before you perform the procedures in this article, make sure that you have an existing KPI to configure. To create a KPI, see Create and configure a KPI by using Dashboard Designer.

Add trend indicators to a PerformancePoint KPI
When you add trend indicators to a KPI, you add and configure an additional Target value to that KPI. Then, you configure the new Target value by selecting a specific kind of Trend indicator. A trend indicator is a special case indicator that compares a KPI’s current Target value to its previous Actual value, and then display performance as increasing or decreasing.
To configure a Trend indicator
In the center pane, on the Editor tab, in the Actual and Targets section, click New Target.
In the Name column, click the current name of the new Target value to highlight its text, and then type a new name, such as Trend.
Use the Compare to list to select an Actual value.
Configure the indicator and scoring settings that are used by the Trend value by using the following procedure:
To configure the indicator and scoring settings for a Trend value in a KPI
In the Trend row, click the cell in the Indicators column to enable Thresholds pane.
In the Thresholds pane, click Set Scoring Pattern and Indicator. The Edit Banding Settings dialog box opens.
On the Select the Scoring Pattern page, specify a scoring pattern and banding method, and then click Next.
On the Select an Indicator page, use the Available Indicators tab to select an indicator that is listed in the Trends section, and then click Next.
On the Specify the worst value page, in the Enter worst value box, type a number that corresponds to the worst possible performance.
Suggerimento
By default, the number zero (0) is entered in the Enter worst value box. You can either keep this entry or specify a different value. However, if you type a number that is less than 0, it will be treated as 0 when calculations are performed.
Click Finish to close the Edit Banding Settings dialog box.
In the Workspace Browser, right-click the KPI, and then click Save.
