Visual Studio 2008 Shell (Integrated Mode) Setup and User Guide
The Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell (integrated mode) provides a redistributable version of the Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE) from which the programming languages and the features that support their respective project systems have been removed.
This IDE-only version of Visual Studio serves as a development platform to which developers can add their own development tools and programming languages, such as COBOL and Perl.
