TaskLoggingHelper.LogMessagesFromFile Method (String, MessageImportance)

Logs errors, warnings, and messages for each line of text in the given file. Also logs the importance of messages.

MSBuild is now included in Visual Studio instead of the .NET Framework. You can use MSBuild 12.0 side-by-side with versions previously deployed with the .NET Framework.For more information, see What's New in MSBuild 12.0.

Parameters

  • fileName
    Type: System.String

    The name of the file to log messages from.

Return Value

Type: System.Boolean
true to indicate at least one error was logged; otherwise, false.

Exceptions

Exception Condition
ArgumentNullException

Thrown when filename is null.

Remarks

Errors and warnings are logged for lines that fit a particular canonical format. All other lines are logged as messages.
