How to Configure EWF for CompactFlash

CompactFlash devices are write-sensitive and have a limited number of write cycles. Adding the Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) component to your run-time image prolongs the lifespan of your CompactFlash device by intercepting and storing write requests. For more information, see Enhanced Write Filter.

A CompactFlash run-time image is configured at the end of the development cycle, when a run-time image is ready to be deployed.

The following table shows the steps required to configure EWF for CompactFlash. To track your progress, select the check box after completing each step.

2. Familiarize yourself with the EWF Design Considerations. EWF Design Considerations
3. Prepare the CompactFlash Device. Configuring the CompactFlash Device
4. Configure your run-time image to support EWF RAM Reg Mode and deploy it to the CompactFlash device.

Running FBA directly on the CompactFlash device can be time consuming and write-intensive. You can deploy your run-time image to a hard disk to run FBA, then copy the post-FBA run-time image to the CompactFlash device.
