The Windows Server Backup Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in contains the following wizards to help you schedule and create backups, and perform recoveries:

Certain pages and fields in these wizards have been updated for Windows Server 2008 R2.

Additional considerations

  • To run backups and recoveries using Windows Server Backup, you must be a member of the Backup Operators or Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

  • You can perform the same backup and recovery tasks with the Wbadmin command that you can with the wizards in the Windows Server Backup snap-in. For information about this command, see the Command Reference (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=140216).

  • You can perform backup tasks with the Windows PowerShell cmdlets for Windows Server Backup. For more information, see Using Windows Server Backup Cmdlets.
