Event ID 636 — Trust Policy and Configuration

The Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) trust policy file defines the set of parameters that a Federation Service requires to identify partners, certificates, account stores, claims, and the various properties of these entities that are associated with the Federation Service.

Resolve
Specify a valid file path to an existing trust policy file in the web.config file
Correct the web.config configuration to specify a valid file path to an existing trust policy file. You can correct this configuration in the web.config file or by using the Active Directory Federation Services snap-in.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To specify a file path to an existing trust policy file:
- On the federation server, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Federation Services.
- In the console tree, right-click Federation Service, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, in Trust policy file, type the correct path to the trust policy file.
Verify
Verify that you can access the Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)-enabled application from a client browser and that the resource can be accessed.
