Walt Disney World Marathon Dopey Challenge 2015 Week 1 Training: Here I Go Again!

Enjoy this 80’s interlude and this is an all skate song:

SAM_0288I have decided to run in the happiest place on earth again.   My main motivation for running this year, is that it is the 10 year anniversary of the Goofy challenge, and the medal looks great!  As always Disney does a great job on their medals.  However the more I thought about it, could I just go to Disney and run the Goofy?  NO!!!!!!!!

So I signed up for the Dopey Challenge, which is 4 days of running.  The 4 runs in order I will run them in are 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon and a full marathon.  I even took a day of vacation to make sure I got registered for Dopey and all of my running friends were able to get registered as well, so I will have company!  As I have mentioned before whenever you sign up for a race of any kind you sign up for a damage bill you have to pay.  To pay the bill you have 2 choices:

  1. Pay the bill in installments
  2. Pay the bill in one lump sum

When it comes to marathon training I prefer the monthly installment plan and for this challenge I have signed up for a bill of 48.6 miles!.  With that in mind I started looking for training plans, and looked at several Dopey training plans.  I finally chose Jeff Galloway’s plan.  He actually has several solid plans here: https://www.rundisney.com/training/#disneyworld-marathon.  What I liked about the plan is that is was a long slow plan and most importantly fits my Galloway intervals, it is the first plan will I will run a marathon during training.  Here is the plan you can download, I also made an excel spreadsheet to track the running if you want that just let me know and I will email it too you.

Here is my schedule for this week, and I know I am on to my 3 week already but I did the first two weeks as well.
