宛先到達不能メッセージは、次のいずれかの理由により、パケットの送信元であるコンピューターに送信できます。

• コンピューターが宛先アドレスへのルートを見つけることができません。

• 宛先アドレスとの通信は管理上禁止されています。 たとえば、ファイアウォールによって宛先へのパケットの配信が禁止されます。

• 宛先アドレスに到達できません。

• 宛先ポートに到達できません。 たとえば、パケットのプロトコルに使用できるリスナーはありません。
