Production - Start (class form)
Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
Click Production control > Periodic > Production orders > Start.
Use this form to send production orders into production on the shop floor. A production order is ready to start after it is estimated, scheduled, and released. If these updates are not completed, they run automatically when you start the production order by using this form.
If the production is automatically updated, job cards are not printed. To print job cards, run the Release step manually. You can change a production order that has a status of Release or Start. For example, you can change the bill of materials (BOM) or route. However, if the change affects costs or scheduling, you must recalculate consumption and reschedule the production. You can do this by running an operation scheduling or job scheduling update.

---|---|
Production |
The production order number to start. If you open this form from the All production orders list page, this field displays the current production. The Name field is populated automatically. |
Quantity |
Specify the quantity to produce. You can specify the whole production order quantity or a partial quantity. You can also enter a negative quantity to reverse a quantity that is already started. |
Date |
Specify the posting date for startup. |
From Oper. No. |
The operation number that starts the production. |
To Oper. No. |
The operation number that ends the production. |
Start production |
Select this check box to update the started quantity in the production. |
References |
Select this check box to start any subproductions or upper-level productions that are referenced by the current production. Referenced productions are scheduled based on the main production. |
Show journal info |
Select this check box to display a message that describes the result of the journal update. |
Route card |
Select the route card journal. |
Automatic route consumption |
Specify how time consumption is handled for the route. Time consumption is recorded when you post to the general ledger. If the Post route card now field is blank, consumption is recorded when the route journal is posted. The options are as follows:
|
Post route card now |
Select this check box to automatically post the created route journal. |
End-mark route |
Select this check box to create the route card journal by using the operations that are marked as completed. Note The route card journal is created regardless of the setting in the Automatic route consumption field. |
Picking list |
Select the journal that is used to record material consumption. You can select from all existing journals. The quantity that is picked depends on the setting in the Automatic BOM consumption field. Material consumption is picked by using the journal if the Post picking list now check box is selected. If the check box is not selected, the journal is generated but not posted. For more information about journals, see Production journal names (form). |
Automatic BOM consumption |
Select a value in this field to enable automatic consumption. The picking list is then posted for the consumed materials. The options are as follows:
Note This setting overrides the same field in the Production control parameters form. Additional settings that affect automatic BOM consumption are defined in the BOM line form:
|
Create journal per |
Select one of the following options to specify how to create the picking list journal:
Note The production materials are added to the picking list journal for the operations that are specified in the interval. If no operations are specified, production materials are added for all operations. |
Post picking list now |
Select this check box to automatically post item consumption when the production is started. Transactions in the picking list journal are posted to the general ledger. You can also post consumption manually. You can modify transactions in the picking list journal and post the journal afterward. |
Physical reduction |
Select this check box to allow the automatic reduction of production order quantities so that they are aligned with the current inventory quantities at the warehouse level. Inventory quantities can be lower than the quantities that are stated on a production order. If you select this check box, the corresponding check box in the picking list journal is also selected. When the journal is posted, consumption is reduced accordingly. |
Complete picking list journal |
Select this check box to list all component items in the picking list journal. This includes component items that do not have calculated consumption. If you do not select this check box, and the Automatic BOM consumption field is set to Always, the journal contains only items that have calculated consumption. If there are no items that have calculated consumption, no picking list journal is generated. |
End-mark picking list |
Select this check box to create the picking list journal by using end-marked lines. This means that no additional material consumption is expected to be posted for the production order. |
Pick negative |
Select this check box to pick item consumption automatically, regardless of whether the quantity or amount is available in inventory. Note A value must also be selected in the Physical negative inventory field for the item. If no value is specified in that field, production startup is interrupted when a component item has negative inventory. This occurs regardless of whether the item is set up for negative inventory. A message is displayed that lists any items that do not have sufficient inventory for picking. |
Print picking list |
Select this check box to print the current picking list. Click Print options to set up the information to display on the picking list. |
Late selection |
If you set up batch processing to recur indefinitely, select this check box to process new production orders.
Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed. |
