Gets the scopes of a zone on a DNS server.

Syntax

Get-DnsServerZoneScope
   [-ZoneName] <String>
   [-ComputerName <String>]
   [[-Name] <String>]

Description

The Get-DnsServerZoneScope cmdlet gets the scopes of an existing zone on a Domain Name System (DNS) server. This cmdlet returns the default scope. Specify the name of a scope to get only that scope.

Examples

Example 1: Get all zone scopes

PS C:\> Get-DnsServerZoneScope -ZoneName "contoso.com"
ZoneScope FileName
--------- --------
contoso.com contoso.com.dns
contoso_NorthAmerica contoso_NorthAmerica.dns
contoso_Europe contoso_Europe.dns

This command gets all the scopes from the zone named contoso.com.

Example 2: Get a zone scope by name

PS C:\> Get-DnsServerZoneScope -ZoneName "contoso.com" -Name "contoso_Europe"
ZoneScope FileName
--------- --------
contoso_Europe contoso_Europe.dns

This command gets the scope named contoso_Europe for the zone.

Parameters

-AsJob

Runs the cmdlet as a background job. Use this parameter to run commands that take a long time to complete.

The cmdlet immediately returns an object that represents the job and then displays the command prompt. You can continue to work in the session while the job completes. To manage the job, use the *-Job cmdlets. To get the job results, use the Receive-Job cmdlet.

For more information about Windows PowerShell background jobs, see about_Jobs.
