How to: Set Up Amount Limits

You can set up Microsoft Dynamics NAV to limit what a user can approve. Some users may be allowed to approve any document, whereas other users may only have approval authority for documents up to a maximum monetary amount. You can set up approvers to have limits (or no limits) for three different sets of documents: sales documents, purchase documents, and internal purchase request documents (the purchase quote is used for this).

To set up monetary amount limits for approvers

  1. In the Search box, enter Approval Setup, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Actions tab, choose User Setup to open the Approval User Setup window.

  3. Select a user. If there is an amount limit for sales documents, enter the amount in the Sales Amount Approval Limit field.

  4. If there is no amount limit for sales documents, select the Unlimited Sales Approval check box.

  5. Repeat these steps for purchase documents by using the Purchase Amount Approval Limit field and the Unlimited Purchase Approval check box, respectively.

  6. Repeat these steps for purchase request documents by using the Request Amount Approval Limit field and the Unlimited Request Approval check box, respectively.
