Enterprise No. Field, Customer Table

Specifies the customer's enterprise number. You can enter a maximum of 50 characters, both numbers and letters.

As of January 2005, each Belgian company has received a unique enterprise number from the Belgian Crossroad Bank of Enterprises. The enterprise number uniquely identifies the company and is introduced to facilitate and simplify the administration with the Belgian authorities. In the long term, the enterprise number is supposed to completely replace the current VAT registration number.

The enterprise number consists of two parts, alphanumeric and numeric.

The first part is preceding text (alphanumeric) that varies for each type of company and indicates the VAT system applicable to that company. The text also varies depending on the company's language, Dutch or French.

The second part is a number of 10 digits that must meet the MOD97 check formula. The same formula is currently used to check the validity of VAT registration numbers or branch numbers:

Last 2 digits = 97 - (First 8 digits MOD 97)

The following examples show how an enterprise number could look.
