Troubleshooting: Third Party Catalog Components Do Not Appear Correctly After Migration (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

Description

Third party components are not displayed, or do not appear correctly in the Catalog view after migration to Windows CE 5.0. In Windows CE 5.0, CEBASE, which is the current Core OS, replaces the previous core OS configurations for headless and display-based devices (HLBASE and IABASE).

Platform Builder displays only Catalog items for the current Core OS, CEBASE, and filters any other Core OSes out of the Catalog view. This results in the Catalog not displaying components that specify support for HLBASE or IABASE Core OSes.

Also, if a third party component is displayed in an incorrect location in the Catalog, this might be caused by the associated Catalog item (.cec) file indicating support for a specific Core OS in the .cec files, including CEBASE. This can result in Platform Builder classifying the component as an OS feature instead of a BSP or a driver. Affected components will appear in the OS Features category instead of the BSP or Driver categories in the Catalog.

Resolution

Before importing the .cec file for a third party component, make sure that the component is not labelled as supporting a specific Core OS in the associated .cec files.

If the third party component has already been imported into the Catalog, remove the component, and then make the change in the associated .cec files. Then import the modified .cec file, adding the component back into the Catalog.

For general information about .cec file migration, see Catalog Item Migration.
