What are the quality guidelines while teaching a group class?

The following is the TakeLessons Quality Standards Guide for Teaching Group Classes.

Each attribute listed below highlights the minimum requirements for teaching group classes. Please carefully review and ensure that each item is applied in every group class that you teach.

Content

  • Content should be well-planned in advance
  • You should have 2 to 3 variations of the class prepared if offered multiple times a month (i.e. different vocab/practice exercises, etc.)
  • Documents/presentations should be completed in advance
  • Content should match the title/description of the class you’re teaching

Presentation Aids

  • Slide presentations should be simple and easy to read. Minimum 12 pt for all text

Production Quality

Appearance

  • Your appearance should match the subject you are teaching. Use your best judgment
  • No pajamas, vulgar/obscene logos or text, or revealing clothing
  • Clothing requirements need to remain consistent for every class you teach

Internet Speed

  • Be sure you are plugged into your internet via ethernet cable or have a strong WiFi connection
  • We recommend turning off other apps, products, and devices that may be eating up bandwidth

  • Lesson space must be quiet and free from distractions
  • Lesson space cannot be a public location
  • Students should not hear traffic sounds, pets, other people, or other distracting noises
  • Students should not see televisions, pets, other people, or other distracting visuals
  • Cell phones should be turned off or not in view

Background

  • Have a simple, distraction-free background
  • There should be no more than 3 or 4 items in the shot
  • You must include an accent piece such as a plant, vase, or piece of art

The following items cannot be in view while teaching:

  • Beds
