Schoolwide esports

Completed

Schoolwide implementation doesn't require the involvement of every teacher and student-it's about creating a collaborative community among dedicated faculty members willing to support facilitating Minecraft esports in your school. This can result in head-to-head build challenges between classes, or a schoolwide build challenge that all classes/teams submit to. This use case shares how one school approaches Minecraft esports as a special event with a celebration.

Use case 3: Schoolwide STEM challenge

As an exciting addition to Bedrock Public School's Computer Science Education Week, teachers thought it would be a fun experience to facilitate a schoolwide Minecraft build challenge where classes receive a build prompt and must asynchronously compete for the best submission. The winning class wins a pizza party celebration! The teachers planning the challenge align their build prompt with Sustainable Development Goal #11 Sustainable Cities and Communities. Students must reimagine their school and local community to better invest in green spaces that are inclusive by design.

To create an equal playing environment, teachers coordinate an agreed-upon segment of time each day, where they host a multiplayer world for students to contribute. After a week of intense building, classes submit their project with a video presentation. The school hosts an assembly to showcase the submissions and celebrate the hard work!
