Visual Studio 2022 for Mac System Requirements
The following products support the minimum system requirements below:
- Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 for Mac.
- Visual Studio Professional 2022 for Mac.
- Visual Studio Community 2022 for Mac.
Supported Operating Systems
Visual Studio 2022 for Mac is supported on the following 64-bit operating systems:
- macOS Ventura 13.0 or higher.
- macOS Monterey 12.0 or higher.
- macOS Big Sur 11.0 or higher.
Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Mac projects may require newer versions of macOS as a result of Xcode requirements. Please see the Xamarin release notes for more information.
Note
As new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Microsoft will remove support for the oldest version and support the newest and previous two versions of macOS. Product functionality and feature availability may vary on older systems. For the best experience, use the latest version of macOS.
Hardware
- 1.8 GHz or faster 64-bit processor; Dual-core or better recommended. Both Intel (x64) and Apple Silicon (arm64) processors are supported.
- 4 GB of RAM; 8 GB of RAM recommended (4 GB minimum if running on a virtual machine).
- Hard disk space: Minimum of 2.2 GB up to 13 GB of available space, depending on features installed.
- A screen resolution of 1280 x 800 or higher.
Supported Languages
Visual Studio for Mac is available in English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. By default Visual Studio for Mac will match the language set in macOS. You can select a different language using the Visual Studio > Preferences... > Visual Style settings.
Additional Requirements
- Administrator rights are required to install Visual Studio for Mac.
- Xamarin.Android requires the 64-bit Java Development Kit (JDK).
- Xamarin.iOS requires Apple's Xcode IDE and iOS SDK.
- Xamarin.Forms can target both Android and iOS platforms, given the requirements listed above.
