Windows 노트북에서 배터리를 오래 쓰기 위해 아래와 같이 위치 설정을 해두었습니다.

• 앱에서 위치 액세스 허용: 끔
• 앱에서 위치 요청 시 알림: 켬

이 상태에서는 앱이 위치를 요청할 때마다 알림이 떠서, 필요한 앱만 선택적으로 위치를 허용할 수 있었습니다.

그런데 테더링 앱(PdaNet+) 설치 후 위치 요청 알림에 “거부”를 눌렀더니,

이 앱이 정상적으로 작동하기 위해선 위치가 필요했음을 뒤늦게 알게 되었습니다.

이미 한 번 “거부”한 뒤라 다시 알림이 뜨지 않았고, 결국 설정을 바꿔서

• 위치 서비스: 켬
• 앱에서 위치 액세스 허용: 켬
  • 데스크톱 앱 위치 액세스 허용: 켬
• 앱에서 위치 요청 시 알림: (앱에서 위치 액세스 허용 설정을 키면 이 설정은 더 이상 보이지 않음)

으로 해야만 PdaNet+가 위치 정보를 사용할 수 있게 됐습니다.

그런데 이렇게 하면 Edge, Adobe 등 다른 앱까지 모두 위치 액세스가 가능해져서 문제가 됩니다.

다시 PdaNet+ 설치 전 상태(PdaNet+ 삭제 후 재설치, 앱 위치 허용 끔, 위치 요청 알림 켬)로 되돌리거나 Windows 임시 폴더 캐시를 지워도, “PdaNet+의 위치 요청 알림”이 재등장하지 않아 특정 앱만 허용하는 방식이 불가능합니다.

지금으로선 “데스크톱 앱 위치 액세스 허용”을 켜는 방법 외에, PdaNet+(혹은 제가 원하는 특정 앱)에만 위치를 허용하는 방법이 보이지 않는데 혹시 해결책이 있을까요?

I use a Windows laptop and adjusted my location settings as follows to save battery:

• Location services: ON
• Allow apps to access your location: OFF
• Show notifications when apps request location: ON

With these settings, every time an app requested location, I would receive a notification and could selectively grant access only to the apps I wanted.

However, after installing a tethering app (PdaNet+), I received a location request notification and clicked "Deny". I later realized that this app requires location access to function properly. Once denied, the notification never reappeared, so I changed the settings to:

• Location services: ON
• Allow apps to access your location: ON
  • Allow desktop apps to access your location: ON
• Show notifications when apps request location: (this option disappears once “Allow apps to access your location” is turned ON)

This let PdaNet+ use location and work correctly. But now, other desktop apps (e.g., Edge, Adobe) also have access to my location, which I don’t want.

I tried re-install the app, and reverting to the previous configuration (Allow apps to access your location: OFF, Show notifications when apps request location: ON) or deleting cache files in Windows’ temporary folders, but the location request notification for PdaNet+ never reappears—meaning I can’t specifically grant location access to just PdaNet+.

So far, the only way to get PdaNet+ to work is to enable “Allow desktop apps to access your location”, which allows all desktop apps to have location access. Does anyone know a workaround or fix so that I can allow location access only to PdaNet+(or any other my prefered app)?
