Hi.

I wonder about "IESettingSync" Process

Location : C:\Windows\System32\IESettingSync.exe

Description : Microsoft IE Setting Sync Background Application

Version : 11.00.19041.964

  1. What is the function of this process?
  2. Will there be no additional problems if I kill the process?
  3. If I reboot after killing the process, will it come back to life?
  4. Why does this process keep holding on to the filter driver "fltmgr" for 4 hours?

Thank you for reading it.

I would appreciate it if you would answer.

Since the process is for IE you can uninstall IE and it should go away. See how here:

Restart PC and see if the process is still showing in Task Manager. If so highlight and End Process, see if and when it comes back.

    Hi, Greg.

Actually, the "IESettingSync" process grabs the "fltmgr" filter driver and does not release it for log time.

So other program can't use fltmgr filter driver.

To use other program, I want to kill "IESettingSync" process.

So I wonder about below four things

    1. What is the function of this process? Where is the switch not to use this process?
    2. Will there be no additional problems if I kill the process?
    3. If I reboot after killing the process, will it come back to life?

    I'm waiting for your reply.

    Thank you so much
