Microsoft’s CSR Programs Recognized by AmCham Singapore
Microsoft has received an award from the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) in recognition of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
One of the 42 companies honored at this year's AmCham CARES awards, Microsoft was lauded for its efforts to "combine sustainability and socially responsible business practices with strong community engagement".
AmCham CARES is aimed at raising awareness of CSR and corporate citizenship among its member organizations, and recognizes firms with best practice programs. The annual awards were presented by Social and Family Development Minister Tan Chuan-Jin and U.S. Embassy Singapore Chargé d'Affaires Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath at the AmCham 44th Annual General Meeting, held on April 27.
Speaking at the event, Tan said: “I would like to commend each AmCham CARES recipient for their sustainable corporate social responsibility efforts to support more local communities are in line with the Singapore Cares movement. The Singapore Cares movement aims to promote a culture of care and inclusivity in Singapore, through forging partnerships, increasing volunteer opportunities, and enhancing capabilities of volunteers and organizations.”
Highlights of Microsoft’s CSR activities in Singapore include employees contributing their time and expertise to nonprofits that best match their skills and volunteering interests, as well as the Microsoft YouthSpark initiative to increase access for youth to learn computer science.
Receiving the award on behalf of Microsoft is Kevin Wo, Managing Director at Microsoft Singapore.

“It’s a tremendous honor to see our work in the community being recognized by AmCham. We seek to empower every person and every organization to achieve more, and bring the benefits of technology to those addressing society's most pressing issues. We will continue to focus our efforts on supporting our partners to create greater impact and build a more inclusive Singapore,” Wo said.
During the event, Wo was elected to the AmCham Board of Governors. As a Board member, he will play a significant role in building on the longstanding partnership, and contribute personally to support the mission of AmCham Singapore.
