Is the free download a retail or volume license version? Does it require KMS or MAK activation?

The download is pre-keyed and does not require activation.

Trying to install x86 SPD RTM on a clean Win 7 machine with Office 2010 RTM x86 installed. I am getting the error: "Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): Microsoft Office 2010 does not support upgrading from a prerelease version of Microsoft Office 2010. You must first uninstall any prerelease versions......" Any ideas?

I will soon have both SP 2007 and SP 2010 to support as my customers are upgrading/migrating on different schedules. Can I have SPD'07 and SPD'10 both running on the same machine?

You may have some old beta product stuff that's stuck in the works (I did). specifically the Proofing packs for other languages. Solution •Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility setup (msicuu2.exe): download.microsoft.com/.../msicuu2.exe •Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility setup •Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:  “C:Program Files (x86)Windows Installer Clean Upmsicuu.exe” •Select all beta products and remove them.

Yes, as of 6/4 i'm getting the same error report back on Apr 28.  Running Office 2010 x64 RTM, the downloaded version of SPD2010 says it can't upgrade from a prerelease version of Office 2010.

If Widows Installer Cleanup Utility conflicts with your Windows Program, uninstall it completely and to fix the corrupted file and MS Office 2007, follow these steps: Browse to where the Office 2007 installation files are stored, whether its on CD or in a folder on your drive. Right click the setup file and click Run as administrator and see if it installs then. Also try disabling your Antivirus and see if it resolves the problem. Another thing to try is disabling User Account Control temporarily.

1. Go to User Accounts in Control Panel
2. Change User Account Control Settings
3. Pull the Slider down to lowest level possible
4. Reboot the PC
5. Now follow the instructions provided here: www.windows-installer-cleanup-utility.com
6. Download necessary tools to get your computer to the previous stage.
