WCF Service Data in the AppFabric Management Pack and AppFabric Dashboard

The Windows Server AppFabric Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 monitors the system components of the AppFabric. Primarily using the event log, the AppFabric Management Pack will monitor the health of the Event Collection Service, the Workflow Management Service, the Caching Service, and the system databases.  You can use both the AppFabric Management Pack and the Windows Server AppFabric Dashboard to monitor NET 4 WCF services. Compared to the AppFabric Dashboard, the AppFabric MP offers limited information on [[WCF]] services.  Both the MP and AppFabric Dashboard use the same AppFabric monitoring database to gather event data.  

 

You can use the AppFabric MP to notify you when a defined threshold has been reached.  The AppFabric Dashboard does not notify you of breeched thresholds. Rather, it presents the data for manual viewing.   If desired, you can also build your own custom tool to display monitoring data.
