Opening another User mailbox through OWA
Now in Exchange 2007 and 2010 we have shared mailboxes ( or any other user mailbox) mailbox which we need to monitor time by time and you want to do it without using/knowing the other user credential
So in Exchange 2007-2010 we have the ability to open another user mailbox. And we can switch back and forth between our mailbox and another user mailbox, which you want to monitor often, before we had the ability to open through outlook and we have enjoyed this feature, but in Exchange 2010 we can access another user mailbox from OWA before it wasn't available
To open the other user mailbox you need to as below:
logging to your account through OWA
- on the primary OWA window, users should right-click their
display name in the folder list (above Inbox).
- Select Open Other User’s Inbox.
- Type in the display name or email address of the mailbox that is to be
opened and press Enter to resolve the name. Alternatively, users can click Name and
select the desired user account from the address book. Ensure the name has resolved
successfully (the font will change colors and become underlined); then click OK.
- If the users do not have the appropriate permissions, they receive an error.
- Unlike opening another user’s mailbox, the users now have full access to their own
mailbox, and the other user’s inbox is added to the folder list on the left side.
As previously stated, this grants access only to the requested Inbox, not to the other mailbox folders.
