How To Fix Script Error in Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 8.1

 

Consider the following scenarios:

A user is getting a script error when attempting to click "Find Album Info":

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Line: xxx

Character: xx

Error: Object expected

*Code: 0
*

[where x=any number between 1 to 9]

Then there is a URL:

http://fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com/FAI/scripts/default.js

 followed by this message:

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes or No.

Regardless of what the user clicks he always gets the script error.

Resolution:

1.Close Windows Media Player 12.

2.Open Internet Explorer.

3.Click the Gear icon i.e. Tools.

4.Scroll down to Internet options.

5.Under the General tab scroll down to Browsing history and click on Delete button to delete temporary internet files,cookies etc.

6.Click OK/Apply.

7.Close Internet Options.

8.Now restart Windows Media Player 12.
