Datazen server hardware architecture recommendations

This article offers recommendations for hardware configurations of Datazen Server.   You can contribute to this article by telling us about your experiences in the comments section (and we'll update the article accordingly), or feel free to sign in and edit the document yourself.

For server environments supporting up to 1,000 concurrent users, the recommendation configuration is as follows.

CPU

The rule of thumb is to have 1 virtual CPU core per 25 concurrent users on Web API front-end boxes. A typical deployment for 1000 concurrent users would be:

  • 1 Datazen Server Core machine (8 CPU Cores)
  • 1 Datazen Server Data Acquisition Service machine (8 CPU Cores)
  • 5 Datazen Server Web API machines (8 CPU cores each, 40 total)

You can use the above for high-level estimates, however we would want to examine the exact requirements of the deployment before providing the final recommendation.

Memory

  • Datazen Core Service and Datazen Data Acquisition Service machines, 16 gigabytes RAM
  • Datazen Web API machines,4  gigabytes RAM
