What's New

The following new features have been added to the Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1.2 SDK.

  • The WMRMRestrictions.AddExtension2 method and its IWMRMRestrictions3::AddExtension2 C++ interface have been added to enable setting long values in extended technologies.

The following new features have been added to the Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1.1 SDK.

  • The revocation and renewal process has been improved to ensure that client applications and devices have the most current revocation information before being allowed to play protected content. The Windows Media Rights Manager SDK uses a new revocation information structure to store all versions of revocation lists on the license server and relevant revocation lists on the client. This structure is extensible, so new types of revocation lists can be defined as needed. In addition, the new process optimizes performance by sending updated revocation lists in licenses only when necessary. For more information, see Revoking Applications By Using Revocation Lists.

  • Individualization version numbers greater than 2.10 are now supported.

The SECURITYVERSION attribute of the WMRMChallenge.ClientAttribute property also recognizes security versions higher than 2.10.n.n. For example, a client that returned a value of 2.8.n.n using a previous version of the Windows Media Rights Manager SDK could return a value of 3.2.n.n using the 10.1.1 version of the SDK.

In addition, security versions above 2.10 can only be detected by Windows Vista clients and Windows Media Player 11 clients.

For more information, see Issuing Licenses Based on Client Version and Individualization Information.

  • The following methods and properties have been added to existing objects.

    Method or property Description
WMRMChallenge.RevInfo Retrieves revocation information from the license challenge.
WMRMChallenge.RevInfoPresent Indicates whether the license challenge contains revocation information.
