transformers Element for webParts (ASP.NET Settings Schema)

Defines a collection of TransformerInfo objects.

The following sections describe attributes, child elements, and parent elements.

None.

Child Elements

Element Description

add

Optional String element.

Adds a Transformers object to the collection.

clear

Optional String element.

Removes all transformers objects from the collection.

remove

Optional String element.

Removes the specified transformers object from the collection.

Parent Elements

Element Description

configuration

The required root element in every configuration file used by the common language runtime and .NET Framework applications.

system.web

Specifies the root element for the ASP.NET configuration settings in a configuration file. Contains configuration elements that configure ASP.NET Web applications and control how the applications behave.

webParts

Allows you to specify a Web Parts personalization provider, set personalization authorizations, and add custom classes that extend the Transformer class for use by Web Parts connections.

Remarks

The transformers specified in configuration are the transformers used when determining compatibility for a potential dynamic connection. Also, the only transformers that can be used on a page, statically or dynamically, are the transformers specified in configuration.

Default Configuration

The following default transformers element is configured in the root Web.config file in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

  <add name="RowToFieldTransformer" 
    type="System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.RowToFieldTransformer" />
  <add name="RowToParametersTransformer" 
    type="System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.RowToParametersTransformer" />

Example

The following example configures transformers for an ASP.NET application.

    <clear />
      <remove name="RowToKeysTransformer" />
      <add name="RowToFieldTransformer"
        type="System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.RowToFieldTransformer" />
      <add name="RowToFilterTransformer"
        type="System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.RowToFilterTransformer" />
      <add name="RowToParametersTransformer"
        type="System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.RowToParametersTransformer" />
  </transformers>
