How to: Set Up Level Two Synchronization

You can update your Microsoft Dynamics NAV entities not only with Outlook items, but also with Outlook collections. For more information, see Synchronization Entity. This requires that you decide which Microsoft Dynamics NAV objects should be affected.

This topic shows how to specify which Outlook collections will be synchronized at the second level. For more information, see Levels of Synchronization.

To set up level two synchronization

  1. In the Search box, enter Outlook Synch. Entity, and then choose the related link.

  2. Select the entity that you want, and on the Home tab, in the Manage group, and choose Edit.

  3. Specify a supplementary table that will be part of the level 2 synchronization. For more information, see How to: Specify a Supplementary Table.

  4. Define a filter for the selected table that will be part of the synchronization. For more information, see How to: Define Table Filters. You must also define relations between tables selected for level 1 and level 2 synchronization. For more information, see How to: Define Table Relations.

    Note

If you open the Outlook Synch. Filters window from the lines of the Outlook Synch. Entity window, you have to define table relations between the master and supplementary Microsoft Dynamics NAV tables. In contrast, if you open the Outlook Synch. Filters window from the General FastTab of the Outlook Synch. Entity window, you have to define filters for only the master table specified in the header of this window.

  5. Select an Outlook collection for synchronizing with the Microsoft Dynamics NAV table. For more information, see How to: Select Outlook Collections.

  6. Enter the number of dependencies. For more information, see How to: Define Dependencies.

    Note

If the collection you have selected depends on other entities, you must define these dependencies in the Outlook Synch. Dependencies window. If there are no dependencies, the No. of Dependencies field remains empty. To learn more about collection dependencies, see Outlook Help on MSDN.
