Recommended Versions of SQL Server
This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.
The key factors to determine which version of Microsoft SQL??Server is needed to support speech application analysis and tuning are:
- The size of the tuning database.
- How reports are used.
- Whether Speech Server Business Intelligence Tools are used.
For more information, see SQL Server 2005 Features Comparison.
Using Speech Server Analytics and Tuning Studio
Recommended Software
Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Standard Edition or later or Microsoft SQL??Server 2000 Standard Edition or higher is recommended for use with Analytics and Tuning Studio.
Required Software
Using Analytics and Tuning Studio requires Microsoft SQL??Server 2000 or later. SQL Express is provided with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and is appropriate for ad hoc tuning and analysis tasks with a tuning database less than 4 GB in size. As a rule of thumb, consider that a 4-GB tuning database might contain about 5,000 calls with about 15 turns per call.
Using Reports
Deploying Reports
Deploying analysis and tuning reports requires at least Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Standard Edition or later. Deploying reports uses SQL??Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Migrating Speech Server 2004 Reports Data
Migrating Speech Server 2004 and Speech Server 2004 R2 reports data requires Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Standard Edition or later. Migrating reports data uses SQL??Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Using Speech Server Business Intelligence Tools
Using Business Intelligence Tools in full requires Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. The solution uses data warehouse partitioning, which is available only in Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. Other components of the solution use features that are available in Microsoft SQL??Server 2005 Standard Edition and later: SSIS for data migration, SQL??Server Analysis Services for the data warehouse server, and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and SSRS for reporting.
