IWMPControls::put_currentItem method (wmp.h)
[The feature associated with this page, Windows Media Player SDK, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer. MediaPlayer has been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The put_currentItem method specifies the current media item.
Syntax
HRESULT put_currentItem(
[in] IWMPMedia *pIWMPMedia
);
Parameters
[in] pIWMPMedia
Pointer to an IWMPMedia interface.
Return value
The method returns an HRESULT. Possible values include, but are not limited to, those in the following table.

Remarks
This method works only with items in the playlist. Calling put_currentItem with a reference to a saved media item is not supported.
