To prepare a cross-reference object
Open Command Prompt.
Type:
ntdsutil
At the ntdsutil command, type:
domain management
At the domain management command, type:
connection
At the connection command, type:
connect to server DomainController
At the connection command, type:
quit
At the domain management command, type:
Precreate ObjectNameDomainController
Value | Description |

The DNS name of the domain controller on which the object will reside. |
ObjectName |
The distinguished name of the object that you want to create. |
Notes
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open a command prompt, click Start, point to All programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command prompt.
This procedure can be used for either preparing a domain for use with the Active Directory Installation Wizard or preparing an application directory partition.
