Offset inventory visibility adjustments

Completed

Your organization can use the offset inventory visibility adjustments functionality to make adjustments to inventory visibility to reflect changes accurately. This feature allows your organization to offset inventory adjustments against existing inventory visibility, ensuring that inventory levels are correctly reflected in the system despite any modifications made to the inventory data.

Prior to utilizing this feature, there are prerequisites that your system must meet:

  • Your organization must be running Supply Chain Management 10.0.39 or later.

  • Inventory Visibility integration with inventory adjustment offset must be enabled in Feature management.

  • You must be using the /api/environment/{environmentId}/onhand and/or /api/environment/{environmentId}/onhand/bulk API to make inventory adjustments and post on-hand change events to Inventory Visibility.

  • Inventory Visibility must be installed, and the basic integration between Supply Chain Management and Inventory Visibility must be set up.

Set up offset inventory visibility adjustments

Navigate to Inventory management > Inventory visibility > Inventory visibility integration parameters. Select the Inventory adjustment offset tab. You can set up automatic adjustment offsets for sales orders and inventory adjustment journals. You must enter the data source that your organization uses for Inventory visibility to post inventory adjustments to in the Inventory visibility offset data source field. Next, you must enter the physical measure that your organization uses to record the adjustment quantity changes in inventory visibility in the Inventory visibility offset physical measure field.

In the Offset trigger field, select the record status that triggers the offset. For sales orders, select Create or Invoice. For inventory adjustments journals, select Create or Post. There are storage and tracking dimensions that can be enabled by selecting the checkbox. The dimensions available to enable are Site, Warehouse, Inventory status, Location, License plate, Batch number, and Serial number.

Sync external changes through Inventory Visibility

This feature in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management simplifies the integration between external inventory systems and Supply Chain Management by offering out-of-the-box functionality for synchronizing inventory updates, creating order and journal records, and optimizing performance. It reduces implementation efforts while improving system efficiency.

The Inventory Visibility service now enables external systems to synchronize and store inventory transactions directly in the Inventory adjustment journal within Supply Chain Management. This feature allows external systems to post inventory changes along with source document details (such as order numbers and document types), ensuring the transactions are captured for traceability and historical analysis. Additionally, the system can automatically store and aggregate these transactions based on configurable rules, enabling better inventory management and more accurate reporting across channels. This integration improves the visibility of inventory data, facilitates inventory analysis, and allows businesses to trace transactions back to their original source documents.
