  Ok, someone's got 'some splainin to do'.   Why don't I see Windows Home Server on that list.. ok ok  yeah not a likely target for a business to want to virtualise.. but still interesting for a IT geek to play around with at home no?

  hi! I do not think that your Virtual PC can emulate a real environment properly. Recently, I install Virtual PC 2007 SP1 in my host OS windows XP (32bit) SP2. Then, I install two windows XP (32bit) SP3 as the two guest OSs inside the Virtual PC. When I write a program to insert raw packets into an intermediate filter driver in a guest OS in order to transmits them to another guest OS, I found that they are not fired on schedule (according to the program receiving packets in another guest OS). However, I run the same programs in real machines, and I did not have this problem. Well, if I use the socket API to transmit packets, I found that they can be fired on schedule (according to the program receiving packets in another guest OS). Accordingly, I believe that your virtual PC does not emulate NDIS drivers well. Or in other words, I think that your virtual PC does not handle the kernel mode like the real machine does. I think that it's really a pity if someone wants to construct a virtual network environment with guest OSs in virtual PC. Can you fix it in the next version virtual PC ? P.S. I saw that my guest OS has the "user and kernel mode optimizations" enabled. Besides, I give my virtual PC console maximum performance and enable all my virtual machines to have equal CPU time. I use the Intel Quad CPU. Sincerely George

  George, that type of issue is perhaps best pursued on the MS Technet forums, rather than in the comments section of a blog post (especially given that the blog post was regarding supported OS's for Hyper-V  which is a far different virtualization environment from Virtual PC.

  Great list! I see ISA Server on that list but I haven't seen any blog posts or much activity out there with people playing around with it. Any pointers? The ISA product team blog ... "No Results" Surely someone out there wants to share with us!
