Virtualization Announcements

We had a bunch of announcements today:

Bob Muglia sent out an executive email on Harnessing the Power of Virtualization for Dynamic IT, and we also our Vision and Strategy to Accelerate Virtualization Adoption.

Some key items here:

• Microsoft has acquired Calista - a company that specializes in remoting 3D and multimedia for virtual machines.
• A bunch of work is going on with Microsoft and Citrix to provide the best possible virtualization solutions for all.
• New Microsoft Virtualization Solution Accelerators will be available in February.
• Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 are now supported in both Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 and Softgrid Application Virtualization 4.2.
• Windows Vista Home Editions are now supported inside virtual machines.

  You report that "Windows Vista Home Editions are now supported inside virtual machines." and link to MS Retail Software License Terms. I downloaded the Home Premium license and it still reads:" USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES.    You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system."

  Hi, been following your blog for a while. Decided to give Chaos Engine a go but found that http://community.the-underdogs.org/pub/tools/slowdown/ is no more ... is there any chance you know of an alternate location or upload it elsewhere?  Many thanks!

  Being able to run a full glass areo Vista interface in VPC might make it work trying Vista in a VPC.

  You need to download the supplemental license. BTW, now BitLocker in a VM is now legal also.

Me too.  I downloaded it from the link provided in Mr. Armstrong's article http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/useterms/default.aspx I did not see any link for a supplemental licence.
