About methods for posting costs from project-related production orders

This topic describes the two methods that are available to control how costs for project-related production orders are posted. The method you choose is depends on when you want costs for production orders to be posted.
Obs!
Production orders that are created automatically are linked to the sales order that they derive from. If a production order is linked to a sales order, the Linked to order check box is selected on the Project FastTab in the Production orders form.
You can select a default posting method for production orders in the Posting method field in the Production area in the Project management and accounting parameters form.
Finished item method – You can view committed costs as production progresses, but the actual project costs are not posted until the sales order is invoiced or the packing slip is updated for the item requirement. The cost is posted as a finished item.
Consumed method – You can view actual project costs when the production has a status of Started or is reported as Finished. These costs are posted as multiple project item transactions for raw materials and hours consumed for production. No project costs are posted when the packing slip is updated for the item requirement.
You can also define the level in the BOM hierarchy at which projects in the production are tracked by creating subproductions for your hierarchy. To do so, these two requirements must be met:
In the Project management and accounting parameters form, in the Production area, select the Set subproduction to Consumed check box.
When you are creating a BOM line in the BOM line form, in the Line type field, select Pegged supply. For more information, see Stykklistelinje (skjema).
Obs!
The consumed item/link to order method does not support indirect costs and standard costs.
