Introduction to the Surface Reseller Alliance program

Microsoft offers a set of incentives to Surface platinum, gold, silver, and bronze level Authorized Device Resellers (ADRs) and Distribution Managed Partners (DMPs) as compensation for the value they deliver and the work they perform in helping us achieve our business objectives for Microsoft Surface devices. Surface platinum, gold, silver, and bronze level partners are uniquely qualified product resellers that have met defined criteria and have been designated by Microsoft to resell selected Surface products. The Surface Membership and Insights report in Partner Center is for Microsoft Surface partners who are enrolled in the Surface Reseller Alliance program.

Note

This report only caters to Surface PC product related insights at the moment. Surface Hub isn't included in these insights.

Tiering and trailing twelve month (TTM) revenue

Tiers are calculated by the 10th of every month, based on the aggregated Surface sales revenue over a rolling 12-month period (TTM: Trailing Twelve Month) for each Partner Location ID. A partner with multiple eligible partner locations can see the tier for each of those locations.

  • TTM aggregated revenue (USD): This represents the total aggregated revenue for the selected partner over a trailing twelve-month period.
  • TTM Revenue Period: This is the period for which revenue is being considered. There's a one-month lag between the current month and the revenue data used in the calculation. For example, if the data is being viewed in April, the tier a Partner sees is based on the revenue from February aggregated with the 11 months before it.

Note

  • Tiering data is refreshed by the tenth of every month.
  • A month's lag exists between the current month and the revenue period considered for tiering calculations. For example, if today is in the month of January 2026, the trailing 12 months (TTM) aggregated revenue is considered from December 2024 to November 2025.
  • Revenue numbers are considered until the sixth of every month.
  • Revenue is considered at the partner location level.

Widgets

Partners can access the Surface Reseller Alliance report in Partner Center via the left hand navigation, under the section "ISV Success". The widgets on this report provide information on a Partner’s current tier status, progress toward higher incentive levels and available benefits.

The TTM revenue shown is the aggregated revenue for the trailing twelve months based on the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). For each tier, the threshold to be met is displayed for the selected location, along with an indicator showing the remaining amount required to reach the next tier. In this example, the partner’s current tier is Silver, with $1.3M remaining to reach Gold.

Revenue widget

This widget displays both the Trailing Twelve Month (TTM) aggregated revenue and monthly revenue, with a green or red percentage indicating the change compared to the previous period.

TTM revenue trend

This chart shows aggregated Surface sales over a rolling twelve‑month period. Each data point represents the total revenue for that month combined with the previous eleven months.

The chart provides the following information:

  • The threshold for the partner’s current membership tier (for example, Silver),
  • The TTM finalized aggregated revenue, which represents revenue for the current trailing twelve‑month period,
  • The TTM unfinalized aggregated revenue, which provides a preview of aggregated revenue for upcoming trailing twelve‑month periods and is subject to change.
