Business value
By using new governance controls, you can guide Copilot and agent development in your tenants, enforce governance policies that match your organizational requirements, and unlock new innovation opportunities.
Feature details
This feature introduces advanced governance controls that enable administrators to centrally define authentication and access policies for agents at the environment or environment group level within the Power Platform admin center. These controls are designed to standardize how agents handle identity and access across the organization.
From a technical perspective, administrators can explicitly control how agents are authenticated. For example, administrators can require Microsoft Entra ID authentication, allow authentication from approved external providers, or prohibit anonymous access entirely. They can also define policies that govern agent sharing and restrict unsupported configurations. These settings are enforced through environment-level policies that are evaluated during agent deployment and at runtime, ensuring that only compliant agents can be published and accessed.
From a business standpoint, these capabilities help organizations reduce exposure to unauthorized access and data leakage by eliminating weak authentication paths such as anonymous endpoints. By centralizing authentication governance, organizations can consistently enforce security standards, meet regulatory and audit requirements, and maintain control as agent adoption scales. This ultimately lowers operational risk, protects sensitive data, and safeguards organizational reputation.
