Configure consulting service offer properties

This article describes how to configure the properties of a professional service offer in the Microsoft Commercial Marketplace. On the Properties page, you'll be prompted to specify the software product your service is supporting, the service type, applicable industries, and legal terms and conditions (if you chose to host transactions through Microsoft on the Offer setup page).

Specify the software product your service supports

The first section of the Properties tab for your professional service offer will look different based on the selections you made on the Offer setup page.

Primary products

If you specified that your service is intended for Microsoft software (first-party software), the Properties page will prompt you to select a primary product.

  • If you select Azure and you have chosen to host transactions independently, the offer will be listed on Azure Marketplace. Select up to three Solution Areas which best represent your offer.
  • If you select Microsoft 365 and you have chosen to host transactions independently, the offer will be listed in Microsoft AppSource. Choose up to three Solution Areas which best represent your offer.
  • If you select any Dynamics 365 or Power Platform product and you have chosen to host transactions independently, the offer will be listed in Microsoft AppSource. You can also select two additional Applicable products.

Upon saving the information on the page, an automated check verifies that you have attained the appropriate Solutions Partner Designation that demonstrates your expertise in that product. If you haven't earned the appropriate Solutions Partner Designation, you'll receive an error at the top of the page. To understand the Solutions Partner Designation requirements for the product you selected, visit Commercial marketplace general listing and offer policies.

Associated software products

If you specified that your service is intended for software published by your company or another Microsoft partner (third-party software), the Properties page prompts you to copy/paste the Marketplace link to the associated software product that your service is related to.

  • Associated software product links are used to maintain an audit trail demonstrating that every service published to the marketplace supports marketplace software.
  • You must include 1 and up to 4 associated software products.
  • This information, together with the business justification, is reviewed during certification. Be specific.
  • You aren't required to sell both software and service in the same deal.
  • You aren't required to include links to every software solution your service supports if it's more than 4.
  • This information won't be publicly displayed anywhere.

Note

Today, if you choose to host transactions through Marketplace on the Offer setup page, your offer will be published to the Marketplace within Azure portal and will not be publicly searchable by customers. If you would like to share your listing with customers, you can provide them with the direct link to your offer which is posted on the Offer overview page once the offer is Live.

Select the category of service

In the Category dropdown, select the type of professional service you're offering. The available types are:

  • Assessment: An evaluation of a customer's environment to determine the applicability of a solution and to estimate the cost and timeline of its implementation.
  • Briefing: An introduction to a solution or a service using frameworks, demos, and customer examples.
  • Customer support: An upgraded support plan with expedited response times or access to specific professionals for a software solution.
  • Implementation: A complete installation that results in a fully working solution.
  • Migration: A service that helps to migrate a customer from a software solution running on-premises or another cloud to Azure.
  • Proof of concept: A limited-scope implementation to determine whether a solution meets the customer's requirements.
  • Workshop: An interactive engagement conducted on the customer's premises. It can involve training, briefings, assessments, or demos built on the customer's data or environment.

The category you select determines the tax code that is attached to the service. To learn more about taxation in Marketplace, see Tax details for Microsoft commercial marketplace.

Note

If your service spans multiple categories, please select the category which is most relevant for your offer. You do not need to publish separate offers for each category.

Provide terms and conditions

If you chose to host transactions through Marketplace, you'll see a Legal section at the bottom of the Properties page. Use this section to provide terms and conditions for your offer. You have two options:

To learn about the standard contract and optional amendments, see Standard Contract for the Microsoft commercial marketplace. You can download the Standard Contract PDF (make sure your pop-up blocker is off).
