Important
SQL Server Native Client (SNAC) isn't shipped with:
- SQL Server 2022 (16.x) and later versions
- SQL Server Management Studio 19 and later versions
The SQL Server Native Client (SQLNCLI or SQLNCLI11) and the legacy Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (SQLOLEDB) aren't recommended for new application development.

Beginning in SQL Server 2012 (11.x), if you supply a fixed-length buffer when binding a column result or output parameter and if the wchar character written into the buffer before the terminating character is a high surrogate code point of a surrogate pair, and if the next wchar character is a low surrogate code point, SQL Server Native Client will not add the high surrogate code point to the buffer.
