I ran into a problem when I don’t know how to permanently remove accounts from the list in the Microsoft authenticator.

Deleting an account in the authenticator makes it gray, but I don’t know how to permanently delete it.

Can someone help with this issue? Authenticator not attached to an organization.

    Hello,

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

To remove a greyed-out account in the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can try the following steps:

    1. Delete the account from your smartphone's parameters or account settings.
    2. Turn off two-factor authentication on the account, then open the Authenticator app, click on the account, gear icon and select Remove Account.
    3. Reset the Authenticator app if the greyed-out account is the only account in the app. If not, try logging out of the app in the app settings.

    I hope this helps you

    Kind regards, Adeyemi

I see. In that case, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance with removing the greyed-out accounts from the Microsoft Authenticator app. They may be able to provide you with additional steps or options to resolve this issue.

    Kind regards, Adeyemi

    Hello Samuel,

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately none of the tips apply to me.

    1. These accounts are not in the smartphone, they are available only in the authenticator.
    2. These accounts are already deactivated (entirely)
    3. I can't uninstall my app because it also has live accounts that I use
