Where will you be March 12-15th?

In the wake of the largest product launch in the company's history (Windows Vista operating system, Office 2007 and -- most importantly! -- Exchange Server 2007), Microsoft Corp. will host the 2007 MVP Global Summit. The annual event recognizes the value that Microsoft-designated Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) around the world provide in helping to make the company's products successful, while honoring their contributions to the objective exchange of knowledge and their dedication to enriching the technology user experience.

MVPs are individuals recognized by Microsoft as outstanding leaders in the technical community who make an exceptional impact on the IT industry by actively and voluntarily sharing their expertise in technical communities worldwide. Recent examples of the MVP influence on Microsoft's products and technology users include the following:

  • More than 2,000 MVPs participated in the Windows Vista beta program.
  • On average, a newsgroup posting by an MVP receives more than 43,000 views.
  • In 2006, the MVP community contributed more than 300 Microsoft Knowledge Base articles in seven languages covering all Microsoft products.

Scheduled for March 12 to 15, the 2007 MVP Global Summit will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle and at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Wash. The 2007 MVP Global Summit will provide MVPs, regional directors (RDs), and special community influencers four days of activities and technical sessions. At the summit, attendees can exchange information with Microsoft executives and product managers, share best practices, and network. We are especially excited to have Microsoft Chairman and Chief Architect Bill Gates kick off with the event with a keynote address.

I'm also scheduled to do a "deep dive" on Exchange + PowerShell on the 14th, so I'm really excited to meet up in person with some of the Exchange MVPs with whom I normally only communicate over email!

    I hadn't had the opportunity yet to talk a little bit about the MVP Summit 2007, which occurred in Redmond

    (Answer from the folks who do the scheduling) Many considerations factor into the date selection for the Summit. Because we host almost 1,800 people from all over the world during the Summit, a significant challenge is finding available meeting and hotel space. Additionally, we then do our best to work around holidays, academic schedules, industry events, and Microsoft executive schedules. Please know we make every effort to accommodate all of our guests. Specific to MMS 2007, the dates are listed as March 26 – 30. So, there shouldn’t be a conflict with this event. We do have a conflict with Convergence 2007 (March 11 – 14). The team is providing some special care for MVPs who choose to go to Convergence. For those MVPs who choose to attend the Summit, the team is helping them find the best sessions for Dynamics MVPs. There are only 32 Dynamics MVPs in total and 14 have signed up for the Summit.

    Why -- I'll be gearing up for MMS 2007.  Why did MS schedule the MVP summit so close to the key systems management conference???
