How to: Override Application Settings

In the Settings and Constraints Editor, you can change settings on applications and endpoints on a system diagram so that you can configure them appropriately for the system. For more information, see Overview of System Designer.

Note

Before you can override settings on applications or endpoints, you must specify which settings are overridable on the underlying definitions in Application Designer. For more information, see How to: Specify Application Settings as Overridable. Even though all settings are marked as overridable by default, you cannot override certain settings that Visual Studio treats in a secure manner. For more information about these settings, see Considerations for Implementing Applications.

To override settings on an application or endpoint in a system

  1. In System Designer, select an application or endpoint.

  2. On the Diagram menu, choose Settings and Constraints.

    Tip

You can also right-click the application or endpoint, and choose Settings and Constraints.

  3. Under the Settings node in the Settings and Constraints Editor, make the changes to the settings you want.

    Tip

To change the value of an overridden setting to the current value on the underlying application or endpoint definition, select Use Default. For more information, see Settings Attributes.
