Changing the State of Work Items
The state of a work item indicates the progress your team is making on that work item. The state for a work item can vary depending on the use of the work item; as an example, a bug work item from MSF for Agile Software Development starts as Active, then is Resolved, and then Closed. The process for moving work items through the different states may vary, depending on your team's chosen process.
Note
MSF for Agile Software Development is one of the process guidance templates that are included with Team Foundation. For more information, see Finding and Using Process Guidance.
Changing the state of a work item as it is worked on allows your team to track progress against your project goals. Therefore, make sure that the state of a work item accurately reflects its status.
