How to: Run a Web Performance Test

After you record a Web performance test, it is a good practice to run it and verify that it works correctly.
Running a Web Performance Test
To run a Web performance test
Open a Web performance test.
Your Web performance test opens in the Web Performance Test Editor.
For more information about how to create a Web test, see Creating and Editing Web Performance Tests.
In the Web Performance Test Editor, click Run on the toolbar to display the Web Performance Test Results Viewer.
Note
Optionally, you can use the Run drop-down list options to specify that you want to either Debug Test to run the test under the Visual Studio debugger, Run Test (Pause Before Starting), or Debug Test (Pause Before Starting) to allow you to step through the test.
In the Web Performance Test Results Viewer, you have two options for running your test:
Click the Run button to start your Web performance test.

Click the Step button to step through your Web performance test.
The Web performance test runs and the results begin to display in the Web Performance Test Results Viewer. For more information, see Web Performance Test Results Viewer Overview and Examining Web Performance Test Results Using the Web Performance Test Results Viewer.
In the Web Performance Results Viewer, you can run your test again by clicking the Click here to run again link on the embedded status bar.
Tip
Before you run your test again, you can also modify the number of iterations, network type, or browser type through the run settings. For more information, see How to: Change the Web Performance Test Run Settings in the Web Performance Result Viewer.
