Settings Entries in Modem INF Files

The following topics describe registry entries that are subkeys of the Settings INF file entry.

Topic Description

Blind_Off, Blind_On

The Blind_Off and Blind_On settings define the AT commands that are used to set the modem's blind dialing modes.

Blind_Off

Detect dial tone before dialing.

Blind_On

Do not detect dial tone before dialing.

CallSetupFailTimer

The CallSetupFailTimer entry defines the AT command that is used to set the modem's call fail timer.

Compression_On, Compression_Off

The Compression_On and Compression_Off settings specify the command strings required to set the modem's compression modes.

DialPrefix

The DialPrefix entry indicates characters that are appended to dial strings following the Prefix characters.

DialSuffix

The DialSuffix entry indicates characters that are appended to dial strings before the Terminator characters.

ErrorControl_On, ErrorControl_Off, ErrorControl_Forced, ErrorControl_Cellular, ErrorControl_Cellular_Forced

The error control settings configure the commands that set the modem's error control.

ErrorControl_On

Error control enabled (auto reliable)

ErrorControl_Off

Error control disabled (normal mode, not direct)

ErrorControl_Forced

Error control required to connect (reliable)

ErrorControl_Cellular

Special error control for wireless links. (auto reliable)

ErrorControl_Cellular_Forced

Special error control for wireless links required for connect (reliable)

FlowControl_Off, FlowControl_Hard, FlowControl_Soft

The flow control settings identify the command strings that configure the modem's flow control.

InactivityTimeout

The InactivityTimeout entry specifies the InactivityTimeout command string. The equation for InactivityTimeout is as follows:

InactivityTimeout * InactivityScale = inactivity time-out in seconds

Modulation_CCITT, Modulation_Bell, Modulation_CCITT_V23

The modulation settings specify the command strings that are required to set the modem's modulation modes. The available modulation modes are as follows:

Modulation_CCITT

CCITT modulations for 300 & 1200 bps

Modulation_Bell

Bell modulations for 300 & 1200 bps

Modulation_CCITT_V23

CCITT modulations for V23

Prefix

The Prefix entry specifies the command string that indicates which characters are prefixed to every Settings command sent to the modem.

Pulse, Tone

The Pulse and Tone entries specify the characters that are required to indicate Pulse or Tone dialing. These characters are inserted into the dialing string immediately following the DialPrefix characters.

SpeakerMode_Off, SpeakerMode_Dial, SpeakerMode_On, SpeakerMode_Setup

The speaker mode settings specify the command strings that are used to set the modem's speaker mode.

SpeakerVolume_Low, SpeakerVolume_Med, SpeakerVolume_High

The speaker volume settings specify the command strings that are used to set the modem's speaker volume.

SpeedNegotiation_Off, SpeedNegotiation_On

The SpeedNegotiation_Off and SpeedNegotiation_On settings specify the command strings that are used to set the modem's speed negotiation modes.

SpeedNegotiation_Off

Connect only at DTE speed, not lower.

SpeedNegotiation_On

Use lower DCE speed to connect, if necessary.

Terminator

The Terminator entry specifies the command string that indicates the characters that are appended to every Settings command sent to the modem.

Format
