XNamespace.Inequality Operator

Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Returns a value indicating whether two instances of XNamespace are not equal.

Namespace:  System.Xml.Linq
Assembly:  System.Xml.Linq (in System.Xml.Linq.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Shared Operator <> ( _
    left As XNamespace, _
    right As XNamespace _
) As Boolean
public static bool operator !=(
    XNamespace left,
    XNamespace right
)

Parameters

Return Value

Type: System.Boolean
A Boolean that indicates whether left and right are not equal.

Remarks

The operator overloads == and != are provided to enable comparisons between XNamespace and string (for example, element.Name.Namespace == "https://www.adventure-works.com"). The predefined reference equality operators in C# require one operand to be convertible to the type of the other through reference conversions only, and do not consider the implicit conversion from string to XNamespace.

Examples

The following example shows a comparison of a XNamespace to a string.

'add the following line to the the Imports section:
'Imports <xmlns="https://www.adventure-works.com">
Dim output As New StringBuilder
Dim aw As XNamespace = GetXmlNamespace()
output.Append(aw <> "https://www.adventure-works.com")
output.Append(Environment.NewLine)

OutputTextBlock.Text = output.ToString()
StringBuilder output = new StringBuilder();
XNamespace aw = "https://www.adventure-works.com";
output.Append(aw != "https://www.adventure-works.com" + Environment.NewLine);

OutputTextBlock.Text = output.ToString();
