OID_DOT11_NIC_SPECIFIC_EXTENSION

Important  The Native 802.11 Wireless LAN interface is deprecated in Windows 10 and later. Please use the WLAN Device Driver Interface (WDI) instead. For more information about WDI, see WLAN Universal Windows driver model.

The independent hardware vendor (IHV) uses the OID_DOT11_NIC_SPECIFIC_EXTENSION object identifier (OID) to define proprietary method requests for its miniport driver. The IHV is responsible for defining the format of the data passed in the method requests of this OID. For more information about the method request type that is defined by OID_DOT11_NIC_SPECIFIC_EXTENSION, see NdisOidRequest.

Note  Miniport drivers that provide NIC-specific extensions should use OID_DOT11_NIC_SPECIFIC_EXTENSION rather than vendor-defined OIDs.

The operating system does not use OID_DOT11_NIC_SPECIFIC_EXTENSION. This OID is reserved for use through calls to Dot11ExtNicSpecificExtension made by the IHV Extensions DLL. The DLL calls this function to pass IHV-specific information to the miniport driver. For more information about the IHV Extensions DLL, see Native 802.11 IHV Extensions DLL.
