Toolbars Tab, Customize Dialog Box (Visual Studio)

The Toolbars tab allows you to create, rename, remove, and reset toolbars. Select Customize on the Tools menu to display the Customize dialog box, and then choose Toolbars.

Note

The options available in dialog boxes, and the names and locations of menu commands you see, might differ from what is described in Help depending on your active settings or edition. To change your settings, choose Import and Export Settings on the Tools menu. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

  • Toolbars
    Displays the toolbars available in the integrated development environment (IDE) and any toolbars you create. When a toolbar is displayed in the IDE, a check mark appears to the left of it in this dialog box.

    Note

    The Menu bar cannot be hidden. It can only be reset.

  • New
    Displays the New Toolbar dialog box, which allows you to create and name a custom toolbar.

  • Rename
    Displays the Rename Toolbar dialog box, which allows you to change the name of a custom toolbar only.

  • Delete
    Deletes the custom toolbar selected in the Toolbars list.

  • Reset
    Removes any changes to the pre-defined toolbar selected in the Toolbars list and resets it to its original state. Available only if you select a built-in toolbar.

  • Keyboard
    Displays the Keyboard, Environment, Options Dialog Box, so that you can specify shortcut key combinations for commands.

  • Large icons
    Increases the size of toolbar icons so that they are easier to see.

  • Show ScreenTips on toolbars
    Displays on-screen descriptions of toolbar buttons when the pointer hovers over them.

  • Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips
    Specifies whether shortcut key combinations appear in ToolTips for commands on toolbars.
